Life story
Yahya Faisal Salman Faisal Al-Sairafi was born in Manama on 10 April 1966, the son of Faisal Salman Al-Sairafi and Shaima Isa Al-Tajir. He won a national Quran recitation competition as a teenager. He studied architecture at the American University of Beirut and graduated in 1988. He worked as an architect, designing schools and homes. In 1994 he married Sawsan Abbas Al-Aali. He opened a small restaurant that failed within two years, leaving him in debt; it took him five years to pay it back. In 2018 he led the restoration of the old coral-stone house built by his ancestor Ahmed in Manama, which reopened as a small family museum. Today he lives in Sitra.
