Life story
Fawzia Juma Nawaf Anwar Al-Tooq was born in Galali on 16 December 1954, the daughter of Juma Nawaf Al-Tooq and Sharifa Adnan Al-Tooq. She was named after her maternal grandmother, Fawzia. In 1975 she married Habib Mahmood Al-Mahroos. They had two children: Sharifa and Yasmin. She studied architecture at the American University of Beirut and graduated in 1976. A serious car accident left her with a broken leg and months of physiotherapy. She worked as an architect, designing schools and homes. She died in Galali on 1 February 2016, at the age of 61.
