Life story
Ruqaya Qassim Waleed Jameel Al-Khaja was born in Tubli on 23 May 1958 into the Al-Khaja family. In 1980 she married Waleed Rashid Al-Asfoor. They had two children: Sharifa and Ebrahim. She studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and graduated in 1982. She became a doctor specialising in psychiatry. Today she lives in Budaiya.
