Life story
Waleed Rashid Yahya Rashid Al-Asfoor was born in Manama on 22 June 1951, the son of Rashid Yahya Al-Asfoor and Sharifa Nabeel Al-Mannai. He studied law at Kuwait University and graduated in 1973 with honours. He served as a judge in the civil courts. In 1980 he married Ruqaya Qassim Al-Khaja. They had two children: Sharifa and Ebrahim. He published a book of short stories about life in old Bahrain. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and changed his whole lifestyle, walking every evening on the corniche. Today he lives in Hidd.
