Life story
Yahya Rashid Yahya Rashid Al-Asfoor was born in Hidd on 1 January 1949, the son of Rashid Yahya Al-Asfoor and Sharifa Nabeel Al-Mannai. He was named after his paternal grandfather, Yahya. He studied history at Cairo University and graduated in 1972 with honours. He taught history and wrote articles about old Bahrain. In 1978 he married Sakina Fahad Al-Mahroos. They had two children: Sharifa and Nawaf. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and changed his whole lifestyle, walking every evening on the corniche. Today he lives in Galali.
