Batool Salman Ahmed Faisal Al-Kawari

Batool Salman Ahmed Faisal Al-Kawari was born in Muharraq on 25 May 1962 into the Al-Kawari family. In 1979 she married Ali Ghazi Al-Oraibi. They had two children: Ghazi and Kawthar. She studied chemical engineering at the University of Manchester and graduated in 1986. During her studies she failed her second year and nearly gave up, but repeated it and passed. She worked as a process engineer at the oil refinery in Sitra. She opened a small restaurant that failed within two years, leaving her in debt; it took her five years to pay it back. She went through a period of depression after losing her job, and recovered with the support of her family and treatment. Today she lives in Zinj.
