Life story
Hani Isa Sayed Ahmed Al-Tajir was born in Manama on 8 September 1942, the son of Isa Sayed Al-Tajir and Asma Ali Al-Zayani. He finished secondary school. In 1972 he married Suad Ayman Al-Zayani. They had three children: Isa, Reem and Hind. He became the head of Al-Tajir Trading and opened the family's first supermarket in 1982. The 2009 financial crisis left the company with heavy debts; he sold two branches and kept all the staff, and the business recovered by 2014. He died of COVID-19 during the pandemic, and only a few relatives could attend his funeral. He died in Isa Town on 2 October 2020, at the age of 78.
