Life story

Mansoor Ahmed Mohammed Hasan Al-Tajir was born in Hidd on 6 April 1893, the son of Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tajir and Amina Saleh Al-Mannai. As a boy he learned the Quran at the local kuttab. He worked as a carpenter and boat builder. He worked in the family business alongside his brother Sayed. In 1914 he married Shaima Nawaf Al-Fardan. They had four children: Amina, Ahmed, Zainab and Kareem. The loss of Amina and Ahmed in early childhood was the greatest sorrow of his life. He lost his savings when a cargo ship carrying his goods sank. He died in Zinj on 6 March 1965, at the age of 71.
